01 / About

Music, technology and a slightly restless mind

Born in Harrogate in the UK, I moved to Spain when I was 11. Travelling has become a big part of who I am: new places, different people, and increasingly life in a camper with the freedom to work from almost anywhere.

That fits the way I like to collaborate. I’m interested in companies in different countries, getting to know the people behind them, visiting teams in person and understanding how a business actually works, rather than only seeing it through a screen.

Music has always been there

Long before most of the technology, there was music. I’ve played fingerstyle guitar and piano for most of my life. Fingerstyle probably sums up my personality: instead of one part, I prefer trying to play the bass, chords, melody and percussion at the same time. Why make things easy?

I love taking a piece of music apart, understanding how it fits together, then rebuilding it in my own way. That habit crosses over into almost everything else I do.

Then came technology

I’ve spent years building software, automation systems, web platforms, AI tools and businesses. Founded and sold technology companies, worked with large-scale automation and data, and today work heavily with PHP/Laravel, Python, JavaScript, SQL, AI and automation.

The technology itself interests me, but solving the actual problem interests me more. Complicated thing in, cleaner system out, with as much of the boring work automated as possible.

The madness

I’ve never been particularly good at staying inside one box. Music leads to technology. Technology leads to business ideas. Travelling leads to new perspectives. One project inevitably creates three more.

Whether I’m looking at a company, a piece of software or a piece of music, the instinct is the same: how does this work, and could it be better?

A better way to learn from video. Mark a section, loop it, slow it down, zoom in, mirror for left-hand players, and save the useful five seconds inside a twenty-minute lesson. Started as TubeMarker. Built by a musician who was tired of rewinding guitar parts.

03 / Story

A slightly unusual route into building things.

Built an online video platform before “creator economy” was a phrase.

Designed, coded, ran and monetised the product myself during the early consumer-web-video era.

Sold it in a seven-figure acquisition.

The platform was acquired by Hand Held Entertainment, a NASDAQ-listed Silicon Valley company. That experience permanently blurred the line between engineer, founder, product person and operator for me.

Built and still run xTakedowns: content protection since 2009.

ProTek Media / xTakedowns is my current operation: ~100k SERPs scanned daily, tens of thousands of infringing links removed each day, evidence packages and DMCA workflows for 5,000+ brands. Top-10 all-time Google removals. Real throughput since 2009, and the place where most of my automation, data engineering and applied AI instincts were forged.

Applied AI, product systems and wherever curiosity points next.

I’m focused on software where AI is part of the machinery, not a decorative chatbot, and on products that remove friction from actual work. Always interested in meeting ambitious people, working with interesting companies and seeing where the next project, collaboration or journey leads.

04 / Capabilities

Pick a layer.

I’m comfortable moving up and down the stack, which is often more useful than being brilliant at only one layer.

01

Product engineering

Full-stack systems that connect user experience, business rules, databases, integrations and deployment.

05 / Work with me

I’m useful when the brief is still a little ugly.

01

Build a product

From prototype through architecture, implementation, deployment and the uncomfortable details between them.

02

Fix a system

Untangle legacy workflows, automate repetitive operations, modernise infrastructure and remove expensive friction.

03

Add useful AI

Find where models actually create leverage, then connect them to tools, data, permissions and real workflows.

04

Technical consultancy

Product direction, architecture, unusual integrations, visiting teams in person, Spain-facing coordination and difficult problem solving.
